  • Spank, the evidence was much different. On one hand, you have a confession, a murder weapon, an accomplice and if I remember correctly, pre-meditation. On the other hand, you have.....circumstantial evidence and a witness that refuses to incriminate her, her husband. If she would have went to trial, there is a good chance she would have walked. A plea deal ensured she did some time and has a record.

  • In the first case, the testimony indicated that they killing was a consequence of the break-in, and was not premeditated. In the second case, the boy clearly went there to kill, shooting the victim a second time when it was apparent the first shot wasn't sufficient.

    As is noted, the first case had limited testimony, and scant evidence. The guilty plea was their best hope for conviction, and the only was to get it was to 'plea bargain', apparently. As it says, ten years is better than nothing.

    Justice ain't always pretty.

  • The thing about the kid was the people took him under their wing. The POS killed the very person that tried to help him. The other was a crime of passion.
