Temperatures in Southeast Missouri are expected to be slightly below normal this winter season, said Sean Poulos of the National Weather Service office in Paducah, Kentucky. Meteorologically speaking, winter is defined as Dec. 1 through the end of February. At a meeting earlier this week, one of the attendees, a hunter, was asked about his first weekend of deer season. The hunter reported that, although conditions were ideal, he did not get a deer. I immediately invited him to my yard. As it turns out, if deer hunting were legal in Cape Girardeau, I would have to wait in line for a hunter to show up in my neighborhood. That's how many homeowners hereabout would like to see the marauding deer culled, or even eliminated, inside the city limits...
